Yesterday while speaking with several co-workers the conversation turned to the movie that came out last Friday, The Blind Side staring Sandra Bullock. Some of my co-workers stated that they were looking forward to seeing it and were hoping that the hype being made in the media was true and a couple that had seen it opening night said that it was well worth the money. Being a bit skeptical and not having been excited about too many movies recently I decided to go see the movie and I must say that this is one moviegoer that is thrilled to have gone to see it. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would.

Throughout the movie you will experience many emotions. Not only will you laugh but will you be overcome with the feelings of a loving caring family.

There was one quote that came to mind as I watched the movie and that was “To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world.” It came to mind because throughout the movie you can see how one person or in this case one family made a difference in the life of another. The difference the Tuohys made in the life of Michael Oher was remarkable. We may not all be able to make that kind of a difference but each of us can certainly make a difference in the life of someone, and this movie helps us remember that. The Blind Side is definitely a feel good movie that leaves you with the realization that in this day and age where we usually hear only the bad things happening in our society, there are still good people in the world doing kind things for others.

As I watched the movie I thought of the many young people that would be watching it and of the hope and inspiration it would give too many of them. The Blind Side shows them that no matter what circumstance you come from with courage, hard work, dedication and the support of others you can be successful.  They will see Michael Oher display courage when he moves from the rough neighborhood in which he grew up to one in which many people would say he did not appear to fit in or belong and in attending a school, wherein the beginning he not only struggled with academics but with being accepted by the other students and some of the teachers. Even with these struggles, young people will see that he overcame these hardships with dedication and hard work to become a success.  We have many young people in our society that believe they have the skill and ability to make it in professional sports, but with the help of this movie they will see that skill and ability alone will not get you there but you must work hard often overcoming obstacles to achieve your goals.

The Blind side is not only entertaining but inspirational. Some movie goers will not go saying that they are not sports fans or do not like football so they will not enjoy the movie, but you do not have to be a sports fan to enjoy this movie.  Sandra Bullock gives one of the best performances of her career. This is definitely a movie worth seeing.
